Why fifty bags
The Founder's Collection exists because we wanted to launch Skogène with the most honest offering we could imagine: a small number of bags, each one truly different, each one made by hand, each one documented from ranch to owner.
Fifty bags is not an arbitrary number. It reflects the real capacity of the artisan families we work with and the time required to vegetable-tan the leather, craft each piece, and document the provenance journey at every stage.
Each bag in the collection comes from a different hide, made by a different artisan family, in a different state. No two are the same. The serial number, the leather, the artisan, and the origin are all unique.
When all fifty bags are spoken for, the Founder's Collection closes permanently. It will not be expanded, restocked, or repeated.
What you receive
When you are selected for the Founder's Collection, Tara will write to you personally on a Skogène-branded notecard. This is how you will learn that a bag has been set aside for you. Your Founder's Collection bag arrives inside the Provenance Portfolio Box with:
Polaroid Photographs
Eight to twelve Polaroid photographs documenting your bag's journey from ranch to workshop.
Signed Artisan Card
A signed card from the artisan family who crafted your bag.
Certificate of Authenticity
A certificate of authenticity with a gold foil seal, letterpress-printed on cotton card stock.
Serial Number Card
A serial number card identifying your bag as one of fifty.
Custom Dust Bag
A custom-sewn dust bag made from unbleached American cotton.
Care Guide
A care guide specific to the leather used in your bag. Lifetime access to your bag's digital Provenance Portal profile.
You are not purchasing a handbag. You are receiving a documented American artifact with a known origin, a known maker, and a story that belongs only to you.
How the application works
Tell us about yourself
Submit your application through this page. Tell us your name, where you are, and what draws you to Skogène. There is no right answer.
We review and respond
Applications are reviewed personally. This is a selection, not a queue. We are looking for people who understand what we are building and want to be part of it from the beginning.
Your bag begins its journey
If selected, Tara will write to you on a Skogène-branded notecard with details about your bag. From that moment, you will receive updates and photographs as your bag moves through each stage of creation.
PRICING
Pricing
Founder's Collection bags are priced individually, ranging from $800 to $2,000 and above, depending on the leather, the complexity, and the artisan.
The price reflects the cost of American materials, American artisan labor, and the provenance documentation system. Every dollar is accounted for.
Skogène does not offer discounts, sales, or promotional pricing. The price is the price. It is set once and it does not change.
